The Women’s Army Corps Veterans’ Association was established in 1951 and chartered by Congress in 1954.

The Arizona Saguaro Chapter 68 was chartered in 1984 as a non-profit 501c(19) Veteran Service Organization. Our members span the generations, from service in Vietnam and the Cold War, to the Global War on Terror. Numerous members have been inducted into the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame.

MISSION STATEMENT

Through our support of community programs, development of new community service programs, and publicizing local resources, we seek to improve life for all Arizona veterans.

GOALS

Provide support and resources for military and veteran women.

Adapt to changing needs within the Chapter while adhering to the National Women’s Army Corps – Army Women United history, heritage, traditions, and standards.

Provide a welcoming and respectful atmosphere in everything we do.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Chapter 68 is recognized nationally by Army Women United as an award-winning organization and a leader of volunteers in the Phoenix area. Our commitment of time and fundraising is an inspiration for all veteran organizations. Examples of our involvement include:

Providing financial support and member involvement to local non-profit charities that benefit women veterans such as Veterans First Ltd, US Vets, and Ashley’s Place.

Maintaining a Chapter Facebook page containing current info for all veterans.

Participating in the Arizona StandDown, providing support for homeless and disadvantaged women veterans.

Administering an Army Junior ROTC Scholarship Program, which recognizes female cadets in the Phoenix area who have shown outstanding leadership qualities.

Volunteering at local VA Medical Centers and the Arizona State Veterans Home, and supporting their veteran programs.

Supporting the Military Women’s Memorial in Washington, DC.

Participating and assisting with conferences and expos for veteran and military women.

The Chapter’s all-female Color Guard supports events recognizing veterans by presenting the Colors, laying wreaths, and rendering the Final Salute.
